How to Get Blog Post & Content Ideas for Your Website

It’s important to keep generating new ideas for your content. You might have lots of great ideas at first, but sooner or later, you’ll experience content fatigue. It happens to everyone. You’ll be staring at a blank screen with nothing to write.

Here are some helpful tips to generate new topic ideas.

  • Read content from lots of places. Read product labels, blogs, newsletters, junk mail, industry articles, poetry, e-books, and ads. Be curious and have fun learning about new trends, stories, facts, and concepts.

  • Search for relevant keywords and phrases on the Internet. This will give you insights to common questions and challenges your prospects and customers are facing.

  • Ask your prospects and customers what topics interest them. Make a list of frequently asked questions. Visit social media sites your prospects and customers use and find out what they’re talking about.

  • Include a section for comments and feedback on your blog, website, and emails. This way, your readers can tell you what they like and dislike about your topics and it gives them an opportunity to offer suggestions.

  • Use a blog topic generator. You can enter up to 3 nouns to generate 5 topic ideas with HubSpot’s Blog Topic Generator. Portent’s Content Idea Generator lets you enter one keyword to generate a topic suggestion. Keep clicking the refresh button to get more suggestions. Some suggestions might look a little silly, but they might help you think of some other ideas.

  • Use Answer the Public. You can get up to 3 searches a day without a paid subscription on Answer the Public. Just enter your main keywords and it will generate a list of common questions people are asking.

  • Look for trends, relationships, connections, and combinations from everything you’ve learned. Then, sit back and take a break. A great idea will come to you when you’re least expecting it!
